Season ticket holders receive scarves amid heat complaints about Levi’s Stadium

Jul 29, 2016 at 10:53 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers may not send out physical tickets anymore, but those that pay to receive them are still being sent out a small bonus. When physical tickets were sent out, the 49ers would typically include a gift with packages. Celebrating the 49ers' 70th anniversary season, the team has mailed out a set of scarves contained inside two canisters, per Ryan Sakamoto of Niner Fans.

It is ironic – and somewhat humorous – that the team would send out scarves as the free gift. Fan complaints regarding the heat at Levi's Stadium have been growing in number. "With the majority of the 68,500 seats in Levi's facing the sun, fans have voiced their objection to the design," said Chris Biderman of Niners Wire. "It simply hasn't been comfortable, which likely plays a role in there being many empty seats in the third quarter of games while patrons seek refuge in cooler areas of the $1.3-billion venue."

While fans often had to deal with chilling winds late in games at Candlestick Park, anyone that has been to a game at Levi's Stadium will likely confirm that it can get hot there during an afternoon matchup. Perhaps not as bad as numerous other professional and college stadiums across the country, but warm nonetheless.

Fan reaction to the heat during the stadium's early weeks were no better. Heat accounted for most of the 60 emergency calls at Levi's Stadium during an exhibition game during the stadium's inaugural year with two people being taken to the emergency room, per The Mercury News.

In 2014, the 49ers included a Levi's Stadium Inaugural Season logo'd equipment bag, a drawstring backpack, a Power Bank battery charger for your mobile device, Sony active sport headphones, a clear bag for stadium use, and more within season ticket packages.
