49ers release 2016 training camp schedule

The San Francisco 49ers kick off training camp this weekend with players reporting on Saturday and the team's first practice taking place on Sunday. On Thursday, the 49ers released their schedule for training camp up until the team's first exhibition game against the Houston Texans on Sunday, August 14.
On Wednesday, August 10, the 49ers will
hold a training camp practice at Kezar Stadium. The practice will be open to nearly 9,000 fans and is part of the team's 70th anniversary season celebration.

The 49ers will also take part in two joint practices with the Denver Broncos prior to the two teams' exhibition matchup on August 20. Those two practices will be on Wednesday, August 17 and Thursday, August 18.

49ers officially release DT Arik Armstead
The San Francisco 49ers have made it official: the team announced the release of defensive tackle Arik Armstead with a June 1 designation. This means the $18 million salary-cap savings will hit the 49ers' books later. However, Armstead is free to sign with any team immediately.
While San Francisco approached Armstead about taking a pay cut from his scheduled $17.41 million base salary, a deal could not be reached, leading to the release of the team's longest-tenured current player.

The San Francisco 49ers likely aren't finished fortifying their defense and have reportedly expressed interest in bolstering their defensive backfield. If they require assistance making a significant move, one 49ers player is prepared to lend a helping hand.
Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction.
