Mike Silver reported on NFL Network that the San Francisco 49ers are likely looking to get a second-round draft selection for QB Colin Kaepernick. The Denver Broncos, a potential trade partner, are reportedly maybe willing to part with a third-round selection. "The dance continues," says Silver.
The 49ers would see an almost $8.5 million savings in cap space if they were to trade Kaepernick before April 1, per
Spotrac.com.
Earlier today, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported that the 49ers
received some calls regarding Kaepernick, but that nothing too serious developed from them. Rapoport expects things regarding Kaepernick to heat up today and that the Broncos have some interest.
Pro Football Focus' Jeff Deeney
responded to an fan on Twitter regarding an interesting proposal. The proposal had the 49ers giving up Kaepernick and their second-round pick for the Broncos first and third. With the Broncos selecting 31st overall, they would only drop a few spots, keep their second, and lose a third. The 49ers would then end up with two first-round picks, losing their second-round selection.
Update:
Silver is reporting that talks between the 49ers and Broncos have intensified, but that Denver is not the only suitor for Kaepernick. Stay tuned to NFL Network.
Silver believes that Kaepernick is on the verge of being traded and that the Broncos are believed to be the leading suitor. Ian Rapoport appeared following Silver and stated that there are at least two teams interested other than Denver. Rapoport stated that this could go down in the next couple hours and thinks it will take a second rounder. However, the Broncos will need to do more than that given their last pick in the round status.
Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area states that the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns are the other teams in the mix.

Latest PFF mock draft has 49ers making surprise pick in Round 1
The San Francisco 49ers focused on defense in free agency but still have several needs heading into the 2024 NFL Draft. The Niners could also continue bolstering things on the defensive side of the football. Adding to the defensive back, defensive line, or linebacker groups remains possibilities.
Pro Football Focus analyst Brad Spielberger released his latest mock draft and doesn't have the 49ers drafting at any of those positions. Instead, he has the team adding a bit of an insurance policy on offense, drafting former Georgia wide receiver

Three NFL Media analysts have recently released their mock drafts, projecting the potential moves of each team in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. The San Francisco 49ers hold the No. 31 overall pick, marking their first Round 1 selection since 2021.
The latest mock draft comes from Charles Davis, who has San Francisco addressing the offensive line, strengthening a unit that showed inconsistency last season. Davis predicts the 49ers will choose former Oklahoma tackle Tyler Guyton with their first selection.
"The 49ers' offense will flourish as long as HC Kyle Shanahan is diagramming plays, and this agile former tight end has a chance to plug in
