Trent Baalke completes interview with Tom Coughlin

According to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area, San Francisco 49ers general manager Trent Baalke has completed his interview of former New York Giants head coach Tom Coughlin. Baalke met with Coughlin, who is interviewing for the team's head coaching vacancy, in the New York City area.


The 69-year old Coughlin had been the Giants head coach since 2004. Before that, he was the first head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars. He has a career coaching record of 181-153 and has two Super Bowl championships (XLII, XLVI) as a head coach and another as an assistant on his resume.

The 49ers have also met with Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson, former Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, Buffalo Bills assistant head coach and running backs coach Anthony Lynn, Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator John DeFilippo, Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, and even had discussions with former Denver Broncos and Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan.

The San Francisco 49ers announced the signing of wide receiver Trent Taylor to a one-year deal, reuniting with the team's former fifth-round draft pick out of Louisiana Tech. San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel will be wearing No. 1 the next time he steps onto the football field, leaving behind his No. 19 jersey. It's an unfortunate change for any fan who previously invested in a Deebo jersey—unless they consider it a throwback.
