49ers activate Mike Davis for finale against Rams; Place Michael Wilhoite on IR

Jan 2, 2016 at 1:09 PM--

The San Francisco 49ers activated rookie RB Mike Davis to the active roster on Saturday, making him available to play in the team's finale against the St. Louis Rams at Levi's Stadium on Sunday. He was placed on the IR/Designated for Return List on November 7th.

To make room for him, the 49ers placed LB Michael Wilhoite on injured reserve.

Davis, a fourth round selection out of South Carolina by the 49ers, had surgery in November on the fractured hand he suffered during a road game against the Rams.

This season, he has 24 yards on 25 rushing attempts with his longest run being just five yards. Davis also has 23 yards on five receptions.

"It'll be real weird just to come back for the last game, but any time I can battle with my team, I don't care if it's the last game or not, I'll be ready to have fun with it," Davis told 49ers.com earlier in the week.
