San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula spoke to the media today. As far as injuries go, LG Alex Boone, who was injured on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns, is having an MRI today. He confirmed that RB Kendall Gaskins did indeed suffer a concussion and is going through the concussion protocol this week. WR Torrey Smith is being treated for the back spasms that kept bringing him out of Sunday's game. DB Jimmie Ward suffered an elbow contusion and not a break.
Many of the questions focused around player comments following the game. Tomsula disagreed with LT Joe Staley and his comments that the team may have overlooked the Browns. "Maybe he was speaking from a personal note. I don't know," said Tomsula. "Number one, we have no right to overlook anyone. Number two, in the NFL, I don't care if you are 14-0, you better not overlook anyone."
"We didn't execute. I didn't see an effort problem," said Tomsula regarding the loss on Sunday.
Tomsula confirmed that his coaching staff would not change for the team's final three games.
When asked if there were younger guys that the team would like to take a look at, Tomsula said, "No. I think you've seen us working everybody all year."
The 49ers run defense was atrocious during Sunday's loss. Tomsula feels that the defensive mistakes are correctable.
