49ers cut Pierre Thomas to make room for Travaris Cadet

Nov 10, 2015 at 8:54 AM--

According to multiple sources, the San Francisco 49ers have cut RB Pierre Thomas in order to make room for RB Travaris Cadet, who was signed by the team today.

Thomas had just joined the team one week ago, signing with the 49ers on November 3. He played on Sunday during the 49ers' 17-16 victory over the Atlanta Falcons. He had four carries for 12 yards. However, it was the RB Shaun Draughn, who was signed the day before Thomas, that received the majority of the carries against the Falcons. Draughn had 58 yards on 16 carries and another 38 yards on four receptions.

Thomas, who is 30, had played the last eight seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He visited with the 49ers three weeks ago following news that RB Carlos Hyde had a stress fracture in his foot.

Thomas has 3,757 rushing yards and 28 touchdowns on 822 carries over his NFL career. He also has 2,608 receiving yards and 12 touchdowns on 327 receptions. He played college football at Illinois and was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Saints in 2007.
