Aug. 25 Practice Notes

Aug 25, 2015 at 2:30 PM--

Here is what some of the San Francisco 49ers beat writers had to say about today's practice held at the team headquarters.

Daniel Brown, The Mercury News:

After a tune-up at their home facility Tuesday, the 49ers boarded a plane for Denver, where they will share a practice field with the Broncos for a few days.

Inside linebacker Michael Wilhoite (muscle strain) was reinstated to the active roster and jumped right in with the first-team defense. He expects to play Saturday, although his playing time will hinge on how he feels throughout the week.

Nose tackle Glenn Dorsey (muscle strain) suited up but did not practice.

Chris Biderman, Niners Digest:

At practice Tuesday, hours before the team departed for Denver for two joint practices with the Broncos before Saturday's exhibition, rookie seventh-round pick Ian Silberman was inserted at right guard with the first team.

After missing all of 2014 with a stress fracture in his foot, second-year cornerback Kenneth Acker moved into the first team during Tuesday's practice on the right side opposite Tramaine Brock.

Inside linebacker Michael Wilhoite returned to the practice field for the first time since the start of camp and worked entirely with the first team, replacing Nick Moody alongside NaVorro Bowman.

Grant Cohn, The Press Democrat:

Kendall Hunter: Led all members of the first-team offense with five touches during team drills. One of Hunter's touches was a catch on a screen play, and another was an eight-yard touchdown run on a stretch-zone run to the left.

Michael Wilhoite: Played every snap at inside linebacker next to NaVorro Bowman with the first-team defense, even though Wilhoite missed the first three weeks of training camp with a muscle strain and today was his first day back.

Torrey Smith: Left the practice field early and did not participate during team drills – he participated only during individual drills.
