49ers fans rank as the best in the NFC West according to study

Jul 11, 2015 at 10:15 AM--

Mike Lewis and Manish Tripathi at Emory Sports Marketing Analytics released their list of the best fans in the NFL. They define "best" as "the most avid, engaged, passionate and supportive fans."

The Dallas Cowboys took the top spot. Interesting considering that San Francisco 49ers fans, who came in 10th overall, took over AT&T Stadium in Dallas during week one last season, essentially making it feel like a home game for the visiting 49ers.

NFL.com states that the study relied heavily on market outcomes like attendance, prices, and revenues, so take it for what it is worth. Obviously a fan base that spends larger amounts of money on their team are likely to get a higher ranking.

The 49ers did rank at the top among NFC West teams. The next closest division team was the Arizona Cardinals. The rival Seattle Sehawks, who have one of the loudest home stadiums in the NFL, ranked dead last among NFC West teams.

Below is a list of where the NFC West teams ranked in the study.

San Francisco 49ers (10th)
Arizona Cardinals (19th)
St. Louis Rams (23rd)
Seattle Seahawks (26th)

Last week, the Buffalo Bills released All-Pro cornerback Tre'Davious White, who appears to be an ideal fit for San Francisco's needs opposite Charvarius Ward. Over the weekend, Ward took to social media to reveal that he and White share the same agent and that he is willing to nudge the free-agent defensive back in the right direction.
