According to CSN Bay Area, the San Francisco 49ers are not among the teams that are interested in Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Mike Glennon. The 49ers had been reported by the Sacramento Bee as one of the teams that might pursue Glennon should they fail to acquire Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins via a trade.

NFL teams are able to begin negotiations with the agents of soon-to-be free agents. However, contracts cannot be officially signed until Thursday at 1 p.m. Pacific.

The 49ers do not have any quarterbacks under contract for the 2017 season. Colin Kaepernick has officially opted out of the remaining year of his contract with the 49ers and will hit free agency on Thursday. No other 49ers quarterback was signed beyond the 2016 season.

Glennon, who was drafted out of NC State in the third round of the 2013 NFL Draft, has 18 starts and has played in 21 games over his four-year pro career. He has passed for 4,100 yards, 30 touchdowns, and 15 interceptions during that time.

Glennon's best year was his 2013 rookie season where he passed for 2,608 yards, 19 touchdowns, and nine interceptions through 13 games.

During that rookie season, Glennon replaced quarterback Josh Freeman after the Buccaneers started 0-3. Glennon went on to lose his first five starts before winning four of his next five. However, he finished out the season losing three straight. Glennon went on to be named to the Pro Football Writer's Association's All-Rookie Team for his 2013 performance.

The next season, Glennon lost his starting job to newly-signed quarterback Josh McCown. Due to an injury to McCown, Glennon went on to start five games for Tampa Bay in 2014 – winning just one.

On Sunday, Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports! said that, according to multiple sources, Glennon was expected to earn a contract worth between $14-15 million per season. 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan and general manager John Lynch may feel that to be too much for the 49ers to risk on Glennon.

General manager John Lynch addressed reporters at the NFL owners meetings on Monday, emphasizing the San Francisco 49ers' active pursuit of a contract extension for wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk. There has been significant speculation surrounding Aiyuk's status this offseason. The receiver is slated to play on his fifth-year option, which guarantees him $14.124 million in 2024. While the team would be content with Aiyuk playing on that fifth-year option, it would prefer to secure the star receiver to a long-term deal before he returns to the field. Report: 49ers CEO Jed York set to become principal owner

By David Bonilla
Mar 25

According to Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal, San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York is preparing to assume the role of principal owner of the team by acquiring the necessary equity from his mother, Denise DeBartolo York. "The transaction and title change is subject to NFL approval, expected during the league meetings underway today in Orlando," Fischer wrote. "It's not known precisely how much of the club Jed York will own individually after this deal, but the family owns more than 95% of the 49ers, valued at $6B by Forbes in 2023." Fischer also notes that York will maintain his position as CEO of the team, where he will continue to directly oversee
