Wochit News - Jimmy Garoppolo Set to Sign $137.5 Million Contract - Jimmy Garoppolo is about to become the highest-paid player in the NFL after five breakout games in San Francisco. The 49ers starting quarterback was acquired late last year, but the terms of his new contract will be worth upwards of $137.5 million. If the 49ers and Garoppolo reach a deal with the current terms, he will pass Matthew Stafford as the highest-paid NFL player with a $27.5 million annual salary. Stafford, the quarterback for the Detroit Lions, currently earns $27 million annually.
