Colin Kaepernick recalls 2012 victory over Patriots

San Francisco 49ers beat writers had a chance to chat with quarterback Colin Kaepernick after practice today. One of the topics that came up was the fact that Kaepernick has won his only battle against New England Patriots quarterback
Tom Brady.
On December 16, 2012, the 49ers traveled into Foxborough and handed the Patriots one of their four losses that season. The 49ers would go on to appear in the Super Bowl that season. Kaepernick was 14 of 25 for 221 yards, four touchdowns, and an interception in that cold game that neared 30 degrees at Gillette Stadium.
What does Kaepernick remember about that game? "I remember them being up a lot and having them come rushing back," he said via Cam Inman of
Bay Area News Group. "It was a great feeling to go up there and get that victory, especially against a team like that. It was huge. It was another confidence builder for our team, for myself at that point in time that we were playing one of the best teams in the league and went there, on the road – I want to say it was in December – and won. I think we have a similar opportunity this week to play a very good Patriots team and go out and get a victory."
Leading 31-10 after three quarters of play, the Patriots scored 24 points in the fourth quarter to "come rushing back" as Kaepernick said. The 49ers held on for the 41-34 road victory. The game was only Kaepernick's fifth career start.
The 49ers and the Patriots play each other on Sunday, November 20 at Levi's Stadium. It will be televised on CBS and the Patriots are currently 13-point favorites. In their 2012 matchup, New England was a 5-point favorite.

Draft Watch: Western Kentucky WR Malachi Corley visiting 49ers on Wednesday
The San Francisco 49ers are hosting several draft prospects this week as the deadline for pre-draft visits draws near. According to Aaron Wilson of KPRC2, the team will host former Western Kentucky wide receiver Malachi Corley on Wednesday.
Corley is expected to be a Day 2 pick. San Francisco owns two selections on Day 2—the No. 63 overall pick in the second round and the No. 94 overall pick in the third round. Currently, the receiver is visiting with the Seattle Seahawks.

Rapoport: 49ers send clear message to teams inquiring about Brandon Aiyuk
Ian Rapoport didn't offer much of an update on the ongoing contract negotiations between the San Francisco 49ers and their standout wide receiver, Brandon Aiyuk. However, the NFL insider emphasized one thing: The team is not entertaining trade discussions at this juncture.
Reacting to Aiyuk's decision to unfollow the 49ers on Instagram, Rapoport couldn't help but chuckle at the latest development. This practice has become commonplace among players who are unhappy with their contract situations. Wide receiver Deebo Samuel similarly took this action in 2022 before requesting to be traded just before the draft.

With the 2024 NFL Draft less than a week away, it's common for the rumor mill to start churning, especially with players who are actively seeking a new contract. It was just two short years ago that WR Deebo Samuel requested a trade from the San Francisco 49ers prior to draft day, only for cooler heads to prevail and eventually agree to a new deal.
Now, it's WR Brandon Aiyuk's turn to try and get paid and rumors surfaced over the weekend that he too would request to be dealt. While that report was quickly shot down by his agent, there's still a lot of discussion about Aiyuk's future and if other teams will come calling on draft night.
