well, i forgave craig a loooong time ago. i will not judge a whole career by craig on one fumble. that is just not right. in regards to williams, he does not and probably will not have the career craig has and i am ok with cutting him... but it will not be, nor should it be, for the fumbles in the game. if that were the case, it would have been done already.... we just agree to disagree on this one

Im just speaking from an angry fans perspective not from a GM perspective. But Im sure that the powers that be will handle it right.
WR Crabtree
WR Manningham
WR Moss
WR Jenkins

^^^The definites, IMO

The guys battling for the 5th, and possibly 6th spot
WR Tedd Ginn Jr.
WR Kyle Williams
WR Brett Swain
WR Chris Owusu

So I think it comes down to Williams vs. Ginn. Despite Williams huge mistake(s), I think he is a better reciever then Ginn. However, I never want to see Williams NEAR a punt. Ginn offers more punt/kick return insurance, and less reciever ability.

I wonder how well LaMike and Jenkins can do as returnmen. Jenkins was a returnman in 2008 (as a frosh) only, so I don't think Jenkins will do much return game, just a backup. LaMike was used in the return game and I'd expect him to be our return guy to get him more touches.

But if Gore goes down, LaMike would need to be taken off return duties...So whether Jenkins is being used as a returnman in practice/pre-season could decide the Ginn vs. Williams battle.

Edit: If Moss is a no-go, Kyle Williams is a lock for the team.

I Disagree.
Crabs- will play.
Manningham- will play.
Ginn- sucks at WR and brings to the table what Williams can also, speed.
Moss- might not make the team, not tough, cant run block.
AJ- will play, how much is the question.

Willams has speed, can block, can catch, can get yac. Sorry to many "fans" but he will make the team, and he will contribute this season.

I agree. I think Williams is battling Ginn for the last spot, and I think Williams brings more to the table.

And good point about Williams blocking. He had a couple of great blocks.

Williams might be gone down the road, but with our current roster, I think he is the 5th WR.

That horrid reverse was a play that worked for us in the past. KW dropped it, thats his fault.

The other plays were a result of good defense and poor execution. That is much different then what KW did, which is make bone headed, fundamental mistakes.

um,, i am sorry, you do not run a high risk play that like on a rainy day on a muddy field with a slippery football,,, the coaches got way to cute with that one. the coaches should have never never put anyone in a position to mess up with that play. putting justin smith into block?? sheesh.

um no. KW is the one who got cute.

How exactly did he get to "cute" if i recall, they flipped a wet ball to him in the rain and he could not turn the corner on a wet soggy field.Exactly what should he have done in order for that play to succeed? we lost alot of yards, we had to punt and they scored. i do not recall him having happy feet or losing focus. face it it was a s**tty call on a s**tty day on a s**tty field. The coaches did alot of things outside of the box this year and usually they worked, but on the biggest stage , they blew it big time,. you never call that play in that situation in those conditions. It did not matter if it were williams, ginn, crabtree or jesus christ carrying the ball. i am really interested in your interpretation of how williams got "cute" on that call
I seem to remember only KW having trouble holding onto the ball that night.
Only way KW makes the team is if someone else proves they're as good of a return man as Ginn making him expendable.

that list:

Kyle Williams (lol)
AJ Jenkins
Kendall Hunter
Perrish Cox <------- IF you really love KW, this right here is your best bet.

you forgot rock cartwright. i am not sure about punts but am pretty sure he has done a respectable job returning kicks in his career. after last years problems when ginn went down i will settle for respectable. No I agree kyles chances are not good of making the team but its because you have several guys better at returns than him and unless he blows up in the off season , i think there are better guys ahead of him in the wide out position

thats fine. I understand the hate for williams... But there is no excuse,, none for the play call of the reverse that night. williams just happened to get the ball.I know it is against the law to be critical of the coaches around here to some but no excuse for that call to be made in that type of a game, in those conditions on that field and I think we did not have the best field position either I'm sorry and i am really not trying to be an a*****e to other people but . stuff like that , gore taking himself out at crunch time, dixion messing around and having justin smith in there to block irritate me more than kyle williams ever will

You keep saying there's no excuse there's no excuse... Towards everyone else. But there is absolutely zero excuses for KWs performance in the NFCC game. Jim Harbaugh had our team in position to win (like he did all year). Yea it wasn't pretty and yea our offense wasn't doing too well (like it did most of our year). Our defense was absolutely stonewalling Eli and the Giants in the second half. The Giants couldn't do anything and the 49ers were doing their best to protect the lead... Until KW s**t the bed. Yea Dixon should have picked up the first, yea gore should have stayed in. None of that was as detrimental as what KW did. The only time the giants scored in the second half and OT was after KW turnovers. NO EXCUSE

Do not forget there was no excuse for the coaches not to take williams out when he dove for the first punt. If that was not a cry for help, I am not sure what is and it was off the page when they left him in there after his first screwup when the ball hit his knee...i know his mistakes helped to cost us the game. I know that, the problem is that many people can not see that he was not the only one at fault that day, starting with the coaches, who despite what some think, do not walk on water

KW (college and nfl) is an example of why coaches say "play smart and don't be a hero."

I'm over hating on him, and i'm curious to see how he'll respond this season. i think he'll bounce back, but don't think it won't be as a Niner
Get over it. Lol
He fumbled in the NFC Championship game.
