Considering the AFC-best and heavily run-first 13-3 Titans got quickly dismissed from the playoffs while two pass-oriented teams played in the SB and it was won by PASSING the ball, it wouldn't be such a bad idea to "just throw the ball everywhere."
No successful pass-first HC would ever agree with his unproven philosophy and being that many of those coaches were once with the niners you should know that and it should concern you.
MS wants a balanced attack with an EMPHASIS ON THE RUN. That scares me. He said he wants to be able to run the ball EVEN IF THEIR ARE 8 OR 9 IN THE BOX -- which tells me he's going to force his philosophy for the sake of philosophy which is not good. He's emphasizing the run and hired a me-too lap dog in Raye which also means we can expect a fairly anemic passing game that is not able to rack up points or get the niners out of trouble.
In an official article on this site it said he wanted a perfectly balanced attack. That is, 5 passes for every 5 runs in a typical offensive series. To compare, Martz's philosophy was 5 1/2 passes to 4 runs (also very balanced and basically the same thing) yet MS fired him and brought a career loser like Raye in? I mean, was that fire/hire really worth it b/c of that??? I don't think so. Those are not the actions of a HC that I can respect and believe in.
Ok they got beat by the Baltimore Ravens a run first team also so whats your point? Pitt is also a run first team also that went to the Superbowl. And you do know the Ravens had the second best defense in the league last year right?
Also after benching JTO, getting Vernon Davis straight. Firing Roman from the starting safety spot, you really still think Singletary is the like Nolan with the stay the course mentality? I think you really need to be Raiders fan lol. He is just saying that he will run the football even if there is 8 or 9 in the box. Sing is no dummy he wont keep doing it. He just wants defenses to know that we will "punch them in the mouth" Nothing wrong with that. Worked for the Giants, Pitt, and the Titans.
Your article is so flawed in respect to Mike Martz. Did you see how less turnovers and sacks there were before Sing put a lease on that wild dog? Now I dont mind passing but it looks like Martz was trying to pass EVERY down to me. Yeah he is so great he is still out of a job right?
