Yes, make this trade. Rivers is an average fantasy QB at best.

LOL.... not sure why this is even a question. MJD is a rising star at RB. He alone is worth more than Rivers.

So is Rivers at QB, he should also get more total points next year. I wouldnt make this trade in any league till I knew for sure MJD was gonna have most of the carries in Jacksonville. You already know Rivers is gonna start and he has 3 good WRs and 2 future HOFers at RB n TE. Hassellbecks run at Seattle is over imo. They arent as talented and fast as they used to be on offense. He could be trading away his starting QB next season for 2 RBs that share carries. Taylor is just about useless fantasy wise now. Fred Taylor if hes healthy will take away alot of points ya could get with MJD in 08. Might be tempting for 09 with MJD but not now. Well for right now anywaysince its super early for this kind of question

Rivers is a mediocre fantasy QB. He's not going to put up numbers that blow away what he did in 2007. He had a great offense last year and still posted mediocre fantasy numbers. MJD, while not on par with guys like LT and Gore, is still in the top 12 RBs in the draft due to production. I'd much rather have MJD + a guy like Kitna or Derek Anderson than Rivers and a RB like Reggie Bush at RB.

MJD is a back up RB not a starter. All you need to know. Well other that he shares carries and wont come close to points production that Rivers puts up or any other RB that doesnt share carries. You dont win leagues by starting RBs that share carries. Its almost impossible unless you have a RB like Reggie Bush who gets you as many points rushing as he does recieving. Id rather have Rivers and Bush than MJD with either Kitna or Anderson in 08. Until Fred Taylor steps down, gets cut or put behind MJD in the RB order it is a knucklehead trade. Hes better off keeping Rivers and dealing Hassellbeck in that trade. Id even bet if he tried the guy wouldnt do it. Rivers just has that much more value on your team than MJD, Taylor or Hasselbeck right now.

You do know Hasselbeck had more TDs, more yards, and more fantasy points than Rivers last season, right? You also know that MJD finished in the top 10 in most league in scoring for RBs, while Rivers was barely top 15? I know the logic behind starting a guy who starts every game over a guy who shares carries, but that only applies to guys at the same position. RBs are worth much more than most QBs in fantasy football because each fantasy team starts 2-3 of them while each team only starts 1 QB. In a 12 team league, the 13th ranked QB (Rivers) is going to be a backup or sit on waivers. In that same league, at least 24 RBs will make it into the starting lineup. Snagging a guy who cracked the top 10 in RB production is far more important than signing a backup RB, especially when your #2 (Hasselbeck) outscored him last season.

Hassellbeck had barely more points than Rivers and thats when he arguably had better WRs. Now look at Seattle. Its a bad trade getting rid of Rivers for next season. Seattle is on the decline losing the WRs they have and the transistion at OL,RB & TE. SD if anything only added more talent by having Chambers availiable for Rivers all thru TC n such. Im not saying MJD isnt a good value at all. Its just that with all the issues Seattle is having id keep Rivers and deal Hassellbeck. Seems real risky imo.
I say what the helll... go for it!

Man did I call it or what lol.

34 TDS 11 INTs 4009 yds 105.5 rating for Rivers. MJD had a pretty good year for sharing. Should have a monster year next year as a feature RB.
