Former NFL head coach Brian Billick revealed his top-10 mock draft during Path to the Draft on NFL Network. He starts off with the Cleveland Browns passing on a quarterback with the top overall selection and drafting running back Saquon Barkley out of Penn State instead.

Within Billick's mock, the Browns do eventually get their quarterback three selections later after Sam Darnold heads to The Big Apple.

As for the San Francisco 49ers, Billick has them adding a player to help protect their $137.5 million investment at quarterback. He has the 49ers picking guard Quenton Nelson out of Notre Dame with the ninth-overall selection.

"You've got to protect your number one asset," Billick said. "What's your number one asset? Jimmy Garoppolo. So you're going to go with the guard from Notre Dame. This guy's got everything. He's got the size; he can get up to the second level. What I like about him, he's got those heavy hands you talk about for defensive players. He's got what Chuck Noll calls 'that six-inch punch' where he can dominate a defensive lineman in close quarters."

Below is Billick's complete top-10 mock draft.

  1. Cleveland Browns - Saquon Barkley, RB, Penn State
  2. New York Giants - Sam Darnold, QB, USC
  3. New York Jets - Josh Allen, QB, Wyoming
  4. Cleveland Browns - Josh Rosen, QB, UCLA
  5. Denver Broncos - Bradley Chubb, DE, NC State
  6. Indianapolis Colts - Denzel Ward, CB, Ohio State
  7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Tremaine Edmunds, LB, Virginia Tech
  8. Chicago Bears - Roquan Smith, LB, Georgia
  9. San Francisco 49ers - Quenton Nelson, G, Notre Dame
  10. Oakland Raiders - Minkah Fitzpatrick, S, Alabama

Mock Draft 4.0: 49ers address interior D-line early

By Wayne P. Brown
Mar 16

Things will change as the rest of free agency plays out. However, this mock draft tries to address the San Francisco 49ers' key needs and doesn't rely heavily on the moves that have already been made this week—just yet. This mock draft was created without heavily factoring in the trade for defensive tackle Maliek Collins, so it still includes 11 selections. Another mock draft reflecting the most recent roster changes is coming soon. Round 1, Pick 31 DT Byron Murphy II, Texas Although the 49ers addressed the defensive tackle position in free agency, Byron Murphy II may be the best player at the 31. Murphy II's quick burst and get-off makes him one of the most dangerous defensive tackles in the draft. He will impact the

49ers achieve "dream scenario" in latest PFF mock draft

By David Bonilla
Mar 11

While news of Arik Armstead's impending release could potentially alter the San Francisco 49ers' draft strategy, we'll first have to wait to see how the team addresses its defensive front in free agency. Assuming the 49ers brain trust has a plan in place and can execute it properly, that would leave them free to address the offensive line next month. In the latest mock draft by analytics site Pro Football Focus, the 49ers are projected to do just that, with former Alabama tackle JC Latham falling to them at No. 31 overall. "Admittedly, this is a dream scenario for the 49ers," analyst Dalton Wasserman wrote in the pre-free agency

49ers to host Marshawn Kneeland and Jamal Hill on pre-draft visits

By David Bonilla
Mar 13

The San Francisco 49ers' evaluation of draft prospects is underway. As part of their assessment, the team will welcome two players for visits: former Western Michigan edge rusher Marshawn Kneeland and former Oregon safety Jamal Hill. San Francisco recently agreed to terms on two-year deals with defensive ends Leonard Floyd and Yetur Gross-Matos, bolstering its pass rush. However, after losing Clelin Ferrell in free agency and facing the likelihood of Chase Young playing elsewhere in 2024, the team appears keen on adding more explosiveness along the edges through the draft. Kneeland registered 57 tackles, including 7.5 for a loss, 4.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles in 10 game appearances with Western Michigan as a senior in 2023, per
