2017 NFL Draft: Start Time, TV, Streaming, Picks, and What to Know

Apr 27, 2017 at 8:25 AM--

The 2017 NFL Draft kicks off tonight and the San Francisco 49ers select early with the second overall selection. We will be covering the team's draft throughout the next three days. Following the draft, undrafted free agency kicks off where NFL teams will be able to freely sign any players who were not selected.

Uncertainty surrounds the draft with no one really knowing who the 49ers will select. San Francisco is not leaking any information that it doesn't want people to know. The 49ers' selection could be anyone. They could go with Stanford defensive lineman Solomon Thomas, a safety like LSU's Jamal Adams, or even a quarterback like Mitchell Trubisky of North Carolina.

By David Bonilla

The NFL has penalized the San Francisco 49ers for payroll accounting errors that occurred at the end of the 2022 league year. This has led to the team forfeiting their fifth-round draft pick in 2025 and a reduction in their fourth-round pick in the upcoming draft. San Francisco's fourth-round selection, initially No. 131 overall, now shifts down four spots to the end of the round at No. 135, following the compensatory picks from that round. Despite this setback, the 49ers still possess 10 selections in the 2024 NFL Draft but will be short a pick next year. The team's selections in the upcoming draft are as follows: Round 1, Pick 31 Overall Round
