@CamInman#49ers GM John Lynch:Jeff communicated to us that of course he loved it here but he loved being an integral part of a team. Once we did the Christian deal and seeing Elijah close to returning, he wanted an opportunity to continue to do that.

@LombardiHimselfJohn Lynch says that Miami reached out to the 49ers a week ago about Jeff Wilson but then everything "went quiet." Then Miami returned aggressively yesterday and this morning, and a trade was consummated
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfThen there was George Kittle on Jeff Wilson Jr. following the 2020 New England game (3 TDs for Wilson): Jeff Wilson goes into a dark place before every single game He wants pain. He deals pain Its awesome. One of the best quotes since I started covering 49ers in 2017
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfA lot of good Jeff Wilson Jr. 49ers memories. At the top of the list for me: His game-winning TD pass against Cover-0/Chandler Jones in the final minute of 49ers-Cardinals in 2019. Wilson didn't see Garoppolo and Garoppolo (being hit) didn't see Wilson. Iconic moment of that run

@MaioccoNBCSOfficially, no other NFL trading deadline day action for the #49ers.
-
Profile
@MaioccoNBCSI didn't think the 49ers would trade Jeff Wilson because I didn't think another team would offer SF enough. I did not figure on the Dolphins getting involved. But that part of it makes sense. To read: nbcsports.com/bayarea/49ers/49...

@TracyFGSNAs long as we're talking draft picks, let's take a look at what the #49ers expect for 2023, because I miss draft twitter (that last part's a lie):Two Round 3 compsRound 5 Round 5 (from MIA JWJ trade)Round 5 (comp)Round 6 (comp)Round 7 Round 7 (from DEN)Round 7 (comp)

Profile
@LombardiHimselfIt must continue to be emphasized that trading Jeff Wilson Jr. *is* a short-term risk for 49ers, who've undergone so much injury strife at RB. Obviously a risk that they were willing to take, but one of McCaffrey/Elijah Mitchell must always be healthy now or offense will hurt
-
Profile
@nwagoner#49ers now have two open roster spots after trading away RB Jeff Wilson Jr. and releasing WR Willie Snead IV. Elijah Mitchell almost certainly will take one of them soon but again, Niners don't have to rush into anything yet as they go through bye and trade deadline passes.
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfWhy did 49ers feel a 5th rounder in return for Jeff Wilson was significant enough?Because in 5th round, this regime has drafted:George KittleD.J. ReedDre GreenlawTalanoa HufangaSamuel Womack IIISF is confident in its scouting department's ability to unearth talent there
-
Profile
@nwagoner#49ers have had a different leading rushing in each of 5 seasons Kyle Shanahan has been head coach. Jeff Wilson Jr. looked poised to become the first 2x leader. Now, Christian McCaffrey looks like he'll be No. 6 if healthy. McCaffrey at 132 rushing yards in SF. Wilson had 468.
-
Profile
@TracyFGSNAlso, let's not forget, the fifth-round is where these #49ers shine.

@TracyFGSNWith Elijah Mitchell coming back, the trade makes sense. That being said, Mitchell has had health issues throughout his career, so hopefully he stays healthy. The #49ers will miss Jeff Wilson Jr. either way, but that, my friends, is the business.
-
Profile
@nwagonerWell aware #49ers are getting Elijah Mitchell back. Staying healthy has been an issue throughout his young career. If he is, he and McCaffrey should be more than enough at RB. But that's still a big if.Again, understand the move but Jeff Wilson will be missed in SF. Both true.

@mattbarrowsJeff Wilson had been the #49ers' leading rusher this year and had a shot at being the first repeat leader under Kyle Shanahan.2017: Carlos Hyde2018: Matt Breida2019: Raheem Mostert2020: Jeff WIlson2021: Elijah Mitchell2022: ?(I think we all know the answer)
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfThe 49ers currently have 2 open 53-man roster spots after trading Jeff Wilson Jr. One of those will presumably go to Elijah Mitchell, as I don't think SF would make this move if he weren't scheduled to come off IR for their next game on Nov. 13
-
Profile
@MaioccoNBCSIf the #49ers were to add a player in the next 50 minutes before the NFL trading deadline, the best guess would be an interior D-lineman.

@LombardiHimselfThe 49ers plan to continue rotating Spencer Burford and Daniel Brunskill Shanahan actually likes the benefit of freshness there. Its a strategy thats worked before. The 1989 49ers rotated LTs and RGs and dominated the Super Bowl.I wrote about it: theathletic.com/3748874/2022/1...

@LombardiHimselfAs soon as we get over the outdated RBs arent as valuable as WRs trope in the context of Christian McCaffrey and the 49ers offense, SFs value scale for CMC makes a ton of sense. Shanahans offense is hungry for multidimensional weapons (especially at running back!!)
-
Profile
@LombardiHimselfChase Claypool cost the Bears a 2. Christian McCaffrey might be exponentially more impactful than Chase Claypool, especially in the context of the 49ers system. SF price for CMC not looking bad at all, especially with the comp pick equation factored in
