Report: Tony Sparano will join 49ers as TEs coach

With the 49ers, Sparano will oversee a position group marked by injuries and a lack of production in 2014. Tight end Vernon Davis, 30, a Pro Bowl selection in 2013, had 26 catches for 245 yards and didn't have a touchdown after collecting two scores in the season opener. Meanwhile, Vance McDonald, a 2013 second-round pick, had just two catches for 30 yards in eight games before landing on injured reserve with a back injury. Tight ends Derek Carrier and Garrett Celek also ended the season injured reserve.

Brandon Aiyuk isn't the only San Francisco 49ers player being mentioned in trade chatter around the NFL. According to Michael Silver of the San Francisco Chronicle, several teams are also reaching out to inquire about the availability of wide receiver Deebo Samuel.
"In the course of trade conversations about Brandon Aiyuk, numerous teams are inquiring about fellow 49ers WR Deebo Samuel's availability," Silver reports. "The 49ers would likely have to be blown away by the offer to make that move. Fluid situation, though."

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports that the Seattle Seahawks remain interested in reuniting with free agent safety Jamal Adams. He adds another name to the list of teams considering Adams for the upcoming season—the San Francisco 49ers.
"Sources said the San Francisco 49ers are among other teams who have kept in touch with Adams, so the Seahawks could have some competition for the former All-Pro safety, who is still just 28 years old," wrote Condotta.

NFL Communications has officially announced the "NFL legends and active players" who will announce selections during Day 2 of the 2024 NFL Draft. Representing the San Francisco 49ers will be former defensive tackle Anthony "Spice" Adams, who spent four seasons with the team and nine in the NFL.
San Francisco selected Adams out of Penn State in the second round (No. 57 overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft.
