49ers kicker Eddy Piñeiro is questionable to play against the Dolphins because of an illness.
49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said the team will sign a kicker to the practice squad on Saturday as insurance in case Piñeiro can't play.
"There's two guys we're deciding on," Shanahan said, "but not sure which one."
Running back Kaelon Black (groin) is also questionable.
When asked what level of optimism Shanahan has about Black's availability, he said, "a questionable amount of optimism."
The 49ers ruled out wide receiver De'Shaun Stribling (ankle).
