49ers’ Kyle Shanahan details George Kittle, Nick Bosa injury rehab progress

SANTA CLARA — The next three practices for the 49ers are more important than usual. With the health of several starters hanging in the balance for the team’s season opener in Melbourne, Australia, how they come away from this week’s on-field sessions will determine a lot.

General manager John Lynch and coach Kyle Shanahan spoke to the media after building their initial 53-man roster and were noncommittal regarding the potential of both Nick Bosa and George Kittle being available for the season opener.

“We are going to get them out there in these three days and hope it goes well,” Shanahan said. “With three days before we go, we are balancing it out with both of them. We don’t want them to go three days in a row, so we are going to do a little on some of these days and more on one.

“Both of them are on a little bit different schedule with the three [practices].”
