49ers defensive end Nick Bosa has not practiced since August 3 because of pain in his surgically repaired right knee, but 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan hopes to see him on the practice field soon.

Shanahan said today that Bosa is improving, and should be back at practice next week. NFL players get a mandatory three days off after the end of the preseason and then the 49ers will have three practices before leaving for Australia for the season opener against the Rams, and Shanahan wants to see Bosa at those three practices.

"He's doing good. Hoping he can get into practice next week. We'll see how those three days go after the mandatory three days off," Shanahan said.

Bosa suffered a torn ACL in his right knee in Week Three of last season. He previously missed most of the 2020 season after tearing his left ACL.
