The 49ers are planning for their regulars to suit up and play limited snaps Thursday night in their exhibition game against the Los Angeles Chargers.A week ago, San Francisco sat out 36 players against the Tennessee Titans.
This week, quarterback Brock Purdy is likely to start against the Chargers, coach Kyle Shanahan said after the teams held a joint practice Tuesday in El Segundo.
Shanahan said he expects a lot more players to suit up and play against the Chargers.
“Not all of them, but I expect a number of starters to play, unlike last week,” he said. “You guys will see a number out there.”
Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh disclosed that his starters will see some action, too.
The teams are getting a good look at each other this week. The 49ers and Chargers will meet for real in Week 15 on Thursday, Dec. 17, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood.
“We look at it similar to a division opponent that you play twice,” Harbaugh said.
