EL SEGUNDO — An hour before the 49ers hit the field Tuesday at the Los Angeles Chargers’ practice facility, the old quarterback expressed his desire to meet someone who is currently playing the position at a high level.“I want to meet Brock Purdy,” Chargers coach Jim Harbaugh said. “I want to shake his hand.”
Purdy enters his fifth NFL season after the 49ers selected him with the final pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
He needs just 147 pass attempts to qualify as the NFL’s all-time leader in passer rating. Purdy has a career passer rating of 104.0. Aaron Rodgers and Lamar Jackson are tied for the all-time lead at 102.2.
Purdy needs to reach 1,500 pass attempts to qualify for the all-time lead.
Harbaugh said he was hoping 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan would facilitate a pre- or post-practice meet-up with Purdy.
