Brandon Aiyuk isn't doing much to quiet the rumors surrounding his future—or his sanity. He's seemingly doing everything he can to keep the drama alive, and it is a story that won't go away. And though he isn't spelling it out, Aiyuk appears to be sending the 49ers a message.
Only one day after posting photos of himself wearing a Washington Commanders hat on Instagram, the San Francisco 49ers wide receiver appeared in another social media post, this time a video that further fueled speculation he wants out of Santa Clara as much as the 49ers want him out. And it continues to signal growing concerns over Aiyuk's career and mental health.

"We dealing with, you know, like them kids and they, they don't get picked for the basketball game at the court, but they the ones that brought the ball," Aiyuk said in the video. "So they like, 'all right, y'all don't want to pick me. I'm taking my ball. I'm going home.' Ass boys. Little ass boys.
"Or like when your kid, he got this one toy, but he don't really know how to use it correctly. So somebody else about to pick it up and play with it. And they're like, 'Oh yeah, this [expletive] litty.' And they're like, 'wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, hold on. That's my toy.'
"Ass boy, little ass boy. Man, stop running from the belt. The belt coming. You scared. They scared. The truth is they scared. They know how I get. They gonna say, 'Oh yeah, BA, BA, BA did this, BA did that. BA did, you know, that [expletive] allegedly, allegedly,' but what they not going to say is BA suck at football because they know how I get.
"And they running from that belt that's on the way. It's inevitable. It's coming. Stop running. Stop being a female dog. Stop being a female dog. Stop being a little cat. Stop running from the belt."
What this all means is anyone's guess. Is it directed at the 49ers? Or is the San Francisco wide receiver just toying with us? Aiyuk sometimes recites lyrics. Other times, he speaks in code. What is apparent is that the Aiyuk drama is a never-ending story that refuses to go away. And while many will blame the media for keeping the soap opera alive, it is Aiyuk who is doing so.
The latest post comes at a turbulent time for Aiyuk. Earlier this week, Santa Clara County issued an arrest warrant stemming from a speeding incident near Levi's Stadium that was captured on video and posted online last year. I'll remind you that it was a video Aiyuk recorded and posted himself. It was something you'd expect to see in a movie. A fatal attraction-like video of a scorned lover driving by the house to show he's still watching.
The legal situation only adds another layer to an already complicated relationship between Aiyuk and the 49ers.
On Saturday, Aiyuk posted photos to Instagram showing himself wearing a Washington Commanders hat. One of the images included a caption that read, "Stop the cap, the gig is up."

In other words, stop lying, you've been caught. But who has been caught lying? It appears directed at the 49ers, as does Sunday's video message, "Stop running from the belt." But with Aiyuk, you never know.
The standoff between Aiyuk and San Francisco appears no closer to a resolution. Reports have indicated the 49ers have explored ways to move on from the receiver, while teams interested in acquiring him have struggled to establish communication with him during the offseason.
Whether the latest video is simply Aiyuk having fun with the rumors or an intentional message remains unclear. What is clear is that with every post, every photo, and every video, there is a widening chasm between Aiyuk and the 49ers. And there continues to be growing concerns about Aiyuk's mental state. At this point, his future in the NFL may be the least of his concerns.
