Trent Williams makes ‘scary’ admission about his most recent 49ers contract

SANTA CLARA — The two-year, $50 million contract extension Trent Williams signed on April 20, 2026, could be his last.The 49ers’ All-Pro left tackle spoke to Bay Area media on Wednesday and shared the realization that his NFL career eventually could be coming to an end.

“Scary, it’s scary,” Williams said. “I’m toying between the idea of going until I can’t [anymore], and just leaving while I still got some good product left and not getting run out of the league.”

Williams, who turns 38 next month, has been in league since being selected No. 4 overall by the then-Washington Redskins in the 2010 NFL Draft. The Oklahoma product spent nine seasons within the NFC East before San Francisco traded for him prior to the 2020 NFL season.

“It’s been a long time,” Williams said. “I have a daughter that was born a few months before I got drafted. I’m going on Year 17, and she’s turning 17. As a father, I’ve kind of really missed her whole life, until adulthood.
