2026 NFL Draft Day 1 recap: 49ers trade out of first round with two deals

What to Know The 49ers held the No. 27 pick in the 2026 NFL Draft after finishing the 2025 campaign with a 12-5 regular-season record before losing to the eventual Super Bowl LX champion Seattle Seahawks in the NFC divisional playoff round, but traded down to No. 30 in a deal with the Miami Dolphins — then sent No. 30 to the New York Jets and will select at No. 33 on Day 2. San Francisco filled multiple holes in NFL free agency, and heads into the draft without one very clear and obvious area of need. The 49ers agreed to a two-year, $50 million contract extension with All-Pro left tackle Trent Williams on Monday, which NBC Sports Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco believes could shift the team’s early round focus elsewhere. With his fifth and final mock draft, Maiocco has San Francisco addressing perhaps its biggest need and selecting UCF edge Malachi Lawrence.
