Quarterback play

Mac Jones finished the game completing 27 of his 39 pass attempts for 347 yards with two interceptions, failing to throw a touchdown for the first time this season. He earned a 69.2 offensive grade, which ranked sixth among his offensive teammates.

By comparison, Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield finished with a 76.9 grade after throwing for 256 yards and two touchdowns.

Highest marks

Linebacker Fred Warner was the 49ers' highest-graded player of the game, finishing with an 84.7 defensive grade before suffering a season-ending dislocated and fractured ankle.

San Francisco's highest-graded offensive player was right tackle Colton McKivitz, who finished with an 81.8 grade.

Blocking

While Colton McKivitz earned the team's best offensive grade (81.8) and run-blocking grade (82.9), left tackle Trent Williams earned the best pass-blocking grade (80.4) despite being credited with surrendering a team-high two sacks.

Rookie left guard Connor Colby, running back Christian McCaffrey, and tight end Luke Farrell gave up one sack each while pass-blocking.

Fullback Kyle Juszczyk was the game's worst-graded run-blocker, earning a 37.4 grade in that category, while Luke Farrell earned a game-worst 17.7 pass-blocking grade.

Right guard Dominick Puni, who earned an impressive 80.5 grade as a rookie last season, currently has a 57.0 offensive grade through six games.

In total, the 49ers' offensive line surrendered 16 pressures.

Pass Catchers

The 49ers' highest-graded wide receiver was Kendrick Bourne, who tied his career-high with 142 receiving yards (142 in Week 5 against the Rams) on five catches, earning a 75.4 offensive grade. Bourne is still searching for his first touchdown of the season.

The team's best receiving grade (78.5) went to running back Christian McCaffrey, who finished with seven catches for 57 yards.

The game's worst receiving grade went to Jauan Jennings, who earned a season-low 55.2 mark after finishing with just one catch for seven yards on three targets.

Rushing

Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield earned the game's best rushing grade (90.5). For the 49ers, running back Christian McCaffrey led the way with a 60.3 rushing grade, finishing with 17 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown.

Pass rush

Linebacker Tatum Bethune, filling in for the injured Warner, earned the 49ers' best pass-rush grade (70.3), though he was only involved in two pass-rush snaps.

The defensive lineman with the team's best pass-rush grade (63.1) was rookie C.J. West. Fellow rookie Mykel Williams recorded the team's only sack of the day, his first of the season.

Run defense

Linebacker Tatum Bethune was also the 49ers' highest-graded run defender, earning a 75.1 mark in that category on 23 run-defense snaps. Defensive tackle Kalia Davis (74.5) and defensive end Bryce Huff (70.7) also graded above 70.0.

The game's lowest-graded run defender was linebacker Dee Winters, who earned a season-low 35.9 run-defense grade.

Pass defense

Linebacker Fred Warner earned the 49ers' best coverage grade (74.1). He allowed one reception for -1 yards. Among San Francisco's defensive backs, safety Ji'Ayir Brown earned the best coverage grade (64.5).

The game's worst coverage grade (29.8) went to linebacker Luke Gifford, who allowed two catches for 30 yards.

Safety Malik Mustapha, who returned from injury, finished with a 43.1 defensive grade, 29.8 tackling grade, and 46.6 coverage grade.

Tackling

Linebacker Tatum Bethune was the 49ers' highest-graded tackler (83.0), recording a game-high 10 tackles.

Defensive lineman Trevis Gipson earned the team's lowest tackling grade (24.2), followed closely by defensive end Bryce Huff (28.7) and safety Malik Mustapha (29.8).
