SANTA CLARA — Christian McCaffrey felt something and did not even attempt to push through the discomfort.The 49ers’ star running back removed himself from practice on Thursday with what San Francisco identified as a calf injury.McCaffrey did not practice on Friday. He was seen working with a member of the 49ers’ athletic training staff as his teammates took the field to continue preparing for their Week 1 game on Sunday.The 49ers listed McCaffrey as questionable on the official injury report.
