SANTA CLARA — Safety Ji’Ayir Brown could have entered his second NFL season with a lot of momentum coming off an interception of Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl.However, another play from late in the 49ers’ overtime loss to the Kansas City Chiefs had more of a lingering effect.Brown disclosed on Thursday that he sustained nerve damage to his right shoulder from delivering a hard hit to Travis Kelce in the final seconds of regulation.The slow recovery from the injury was one of several factors that may have been working against Brown last season.“I didn’t like my Year 2,” Brown said. “It didn’t go as well as I wanted it to go.
