SANTA CLARA — The 49ers could be without Jacob Cowing for some time due to a hamstring injury sustained Wednesday during the first practice of training camp.Coach Kyle Shanahan shared the status of his second-year wide receiver during a post-practice press conference.“Unfortunately, I think he pulled his hamstring in routes on air today before we started,” Shanahan said. “Hopefully that’s better news with what we were getting out there, and he can get back and get back to what he was doing in OTAs.”Cowing was set to take on an increased role on the offense after a standout offseason that including working with quarterback Brock Purdy in Florida prior to minicamp.
