There is a lot of concern for San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who went down against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday due to an ankle injury and had to be carted off the field. Samuel's return to the game was ruled out at halftime.
One early report from Jordan Schultz of The Score states that Samuel's injury is not considered serious.
"I'm told the First-Team All-Pro WR badly twisted his ankle, but the team is optimistic he's okay," wrote Schultz before stating that the star wideout will undergo more tests to confirm the severity of the injury.

That's certainly better news than initially thought. Samuel was clearly emotional as teammates surrounded him to show their support before being carted to the locker room.
Update:
After the game, head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Samuel did not sustain an ankle fracture, which is really good news for the receiver. Instead, the belief is that Samuel "most likely" suffered a high-ankle sprain.
