Baldinger: 49ers' improved rushing attack the key to beating Packers

By David Bonilla
Jan 18

The Green Bay Packers are 5.5-point favorites ahead of their playoff bout with the San Francisco 49ers. The game will be played at Lambeau Field, which means some cold weather. Wide receiver Davante Adams' 1,553 receiving yards this season were the third-most in the NFL. Oh, and let's not forget about Aaron Rodgers, who nearly single-handedly crushed the Niners with his late-game heroics at Levi's Stadium in Week 3, a 30-28 win by the Packers. The 49ers are a different team now. Yes, there are questions to be answered about the team's health. Defensive end Nick Bosa needs to clear the concussion protocol on a short week to play. Linebacker Fred Warner is dealing with an ankle sprain. The good news is that it's not of the "high" variety. Then you have quarterback

Deebo Samuel doesn't even know how to define his role in 49ers' offense

By Brian Renick
Jan 14

49ers' wide receiver Deebo Samuel was named an AP 1st Team All-Pro for the first time in his young career on Friday. He is the first 49ers wide receiver to earn that honor since Terrell Owens earned his third nod back in 2002. There is no doubt that Deebo deserved the honor as he posted eye-popping stats during his 2021 campaign: 1st in yards per reception (18.2) 3rd in yards from scrimmage (1770) 5th in receiving yards (1405) 3rd amongst wide receivers in total touchdowns (14) Set an NFL record for rushing touchdowns by a receiver (8) It's hard to argue that Deebo wasn't the most valuable player on the 49ers' offense this season, and his versatility is largely the reason why. Not only was he the team's number one receiving

All-Pro Trent Williams discusses his role on the 49ers and the success of Deebo Samuel

Fresh off a regular season in which Trent Williams—the highest-paid offensive tackle in the NFL—put up the highest single-season PFF grade ever, and made the NFL's All-Pro team, it's obvious the San Francisco 49ers offensive tackle is playing the best football of his career, which is impressive because the 11-year veteran has always been an elite offensive lineman throughout his career, making nine Pro Bowl teams. However, from the time he joined the 49ers, Williams has taken on a larger role than just being a star left tackle. During his time with the Washington Football Team, Williams was tagged as an independent player who didn't demonstrate many leadership qualities, which may have led to his eventual unstable departure after the 2019 NFL season. Now, Williams

'We're ready for the challenge': 49ers discuss upcoming rematch vs. Packers

By David Bonilla
Jan 16

The last time the San Francisco 49ers and Green Bay Packers clashed, quarterback Aaron Rodgers single-handedly crushed the hopes of 49ers players, coaches, and fans. It looked like San Francisco was on its way to a victory during that Week 3 matchup, scoring a go-ahead touchdown with 37 seconds left in the game. That was enough for Rodgers, who got the Packers into range for the game-winning field goal. 51 YARDS FOR THE WIN. #GoPackGo pic.twitter.com/mnam33oF7X— NFL
