Kyle Shanahan explains why Nick Bosa's return is 'huge' for 49ers

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan expects to get defensive end Nick Bosa back in the lineup this season. The young pass rusher missed most of last season, his second in the NFL, after suffering a torn ACL during Week 2. It wasn't the only injury the team endured in 2020, but it may have been one of the most impactful — at least, on defense. Bosa has been showing off videos of his progress rehabbing from the devastating injury, and the 23-year-old defender looks on track to return to full strength. And we all remember what Bosa was at full strength. He was named the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year after a 2019 campaign that included nine regular-season sacks

Now that you have been sufficiently warned, brace yourself, and proceed, if you wish. Smith believes San Francisco remains interested in Rodgers, and drafting Trey Lance of North Dakota State with the No. 3 overall pick last week hasn't changed that. Now, any rational reporter or fan clearly understands that the Niners heard about the disgruntled Green Bay quarterback and did their due diligence, as head coach Kyle

San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch was at his daughter's school tennis match when his phone rang. The Miami Dolphins were still mulling over the trade offer he had presented on March 4 for the No. 3 overall pick. San Francisco was willing to surrender its first-round picks in 2022 and 2023 to swap spots in 2021. It had been weeks since Lynch presented the offer. The Dolphins were very interested but needed a little more motivation. "We weren't going to officially do the deal with that," Miami general manager Chris Grier told Peter King of NBC Sports, "because we knew the importance of that third pick." The Dolphins

2021 Schedule Tracker: 49ers open season with back-to-back road games vs. Lions, Eagles

By David Bonilla
May 12, 2021

The NFL will unveil the league's complete 272-game 2021 schedule on Wednesday night at 5:00 p.m. PT. It is common for select week-to-week opponent matchups to leak before the official announcement. I've created this tracker to collect those leaks as the official schedule release time approaches. Update: The complete schedule has been released and can be found here. The San Francisco 49ers will meet each NFC West team twice, as they do each year. The team will also face the entire NFC North and AFC South divisions and this past season's last-place opponents from the NFC South and NFC East — the Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia
