49ers Sign Zach Kerr to One Year Deal

Mar 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM--

The 49ers keep getting older. Practically every free agent the 49ers have signed this offseason either is in his 30s or will turn 30 this year. On Tuesday, they announced they signed another one -- 30-year-old defensive tackle Zach Kerr, who agreed to a one-year deal, the terms of which have not ...Continue reading

The San Francisco 49ers announced that the team has re-signed offensive lineman Tom Compton to a one-year deal. Washington made Compton a sixth-round selection out of South Dakota in 2012. The offensive lineman has 106 game appearances through his nine NFL seasons. Compton, 31, has spent time with Washington (2012-15), the Atlanta Falcons (2016), Chicago Bears (2017), Minnesota Vikings (2018), New York Jets (2019), and 49ers (2020). He has appeared in seven games with three starts with San

Former 49ers GM likes Trey Lance over Zach Wilson

Scot McCloughan spent two seasons as the San Francisco 49ers general manager, helping build the roster eventually taken over by Trent Baalke and Jim Harbaugh. Before that, he was the team's VP of personnel. Matt Barrows of The Athletic spoke with McCloughan to get his opinion of his former team's most recent draft class. While his pre-draft grades had Zach Wilson, whom the New York Jets selected at No. 2, rated higher than Trey Lance, the 49ers' pick, McCloughan would have personally selected Lance over Wilson. He wouldn't have, however, traded two future first-round picks to move up to get him. The inexperience at North Dakota State and the level of competition created too many unknowns. But personally, he still liked Lance more than

Still, there is a valid argument that Zach Wilson could end up being a 49er in this draft due to fit concerns, and much more. Zach Wilson has been an electrifying prospect to watch, gaining notoriety especially for his off-balance throws, which many compare to those of Patrick Mahomes. Whenever a prospect's name is around the same vicinity as Patrick Mahomes, his potential is sky-high. However, despite all the Zach Wilson reports, I still believe that there is a possibility of Zach Wilson being the pick at

Kyle Shanahan was the one who called about Aaron Rodgers as 49ers did their due diligence

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan joined the Rich Eisen Show on Monday morning and discussed the team's interest in Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers leading to the draft. Really, it was just the team doing its due diligence, but it was a hot rumor that made for some interesting discussion leading to the draft. "The exact truth is I didn't want to wake up the next day, on Friday, and see Aaron Rodgers, one of the best quarterbacks in this league, traded, without doing any due diligence on it," Shanahan explained to Eisen (h/t to Cam Inman of Bay Area News Group). "So I just called Matt and asked him if there was anything to it, and Matt told me I'd be wasting my
