Earlier today, ESPN reported that the San Francisco 49ers had signed offensive lineman Aaron Banks, a second-round draft pick, to his four-year rookie deal. The team has also signed four others — offensive lineman Jaylon Moore, cornerback Deommodore Lenoir, safety Talanoa Hufanga, and running back Elijah Mitchell. Aaron Wilson first reported the news. The San Francisco 49ers kick off a three-day rookie minicamp today. While only five of the team's eight draft selections are signed, all eight are eligible to participate. The Niners shared the jersey numbers of the eight drafted rookies, so observing reporters can figure out who is who while watching from a distance today. Trey Lance is all business. The rookie quarterback is focused on the job at hand with the San Francisco 49ers. Over the next three days, that will involve a rookie minicamp, his first foray to the NFL. Over the offseason and probably for much of his rookie year, Lance will get to know head coach Kyle Shanahan's offense as best he can. Lance is the quarterback of the future for the 49ers. However, he won't step into that QB1 role until he is ready, until he has a solid grasp of the offense, and can show he can execute it to near perfection.
