Who needs the draft? 49ers look set with formidable running back duo in 2021

Quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's uncertain future with the 49ers is the biggest story of their offseason. And it's not clear if the cash-strapped 49ers will re-sign Pro Bowl fullback Kyle Juszczyk. But this can be said with confidence regarding their offensive backfield: There are very few questions surrounding their running backs.

Why extending 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk needs to be a priority

Amid all the trade rumors, the San Francisco 49ers must prioritize extending star pass-catcher Brandon Aiyuk. Aiyuk, 26, is an ascending star who has yet to plateau heading into his fifth NFL season. The former Arizona St. product is coming off a stellar 2023 campaign, which saw Aiyuk haul in 75 receptions on 105 targets for a career-high 1,342 yards and seven touchdowns. Aiyuk also averaged a career-high 17.9 yards per reception and maintained a catch rate of 71.4%, both career-bests. The 49ers offense has a ton of mouths to feed, but each of their offensive weapons complement each other quite nicely. Report: 49ers CEO Jed York set to become principal owner

According to Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal, San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York is preparing to assume the role of principal owner of the team by acquiring the necessary equity from his mother, Denise DeBartolo York. "The transaction and title change is subject to NFL approval, expected during the league meetings underway today in Orlando," Fischer wrote. "It's not known precisely how much of the club Jed York will own individually after this deal, but the family owns more than 95% of the 49ers, valued at $6B by Forbes in 2023."
