49ers-Lions: Raheem Mostert ruled out with knee injury; Dre Greenlaw questionable to return

The San Francisco 49ers announced that running back Raheem Mostert is questionable to return to the game against the Detroit Lions due to a knee injury. The running back was in the game for the team's first two drives, including a scoring drive, but did not return for the third. The 49ers and Lions are currently tied 7-7 at Ford Field. Mostert has two carries for 20 rushing yards. Rookie Elijah Mitchell replaced Mostert at the start of the third drive. The team's other rookie running back, Trey Sermon, is healthy but inactive. Kyle Shanahan says Kevin Givens, JaMycal Hasty will be out "a while"; 3 running backs visiting 49ers

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan spoke with reporters today via a conference call and provided several injury updates. He confirmed a report from The Athletic that defensive tackle Kevin Givens suffered a high-ankle sprain during the team's 17-11 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles. Givens' injury occurred in the first quarter. Also suffering a high-ankle sprain was running back JaMycal Hasty. Shanahan doesn't expect either to return soon. "Kevin Givens had a high-ankle [sprain]," Shanahan said. "He'll be out for a while. Same thing with JaMycal Hasty—high-ankle." Shanahan also provided injury updates to several 49ers running

It has been only two games, but the San Francisco 49ers are in dire need of running backs. What was one of the deeper position groups just a few weeks ago has now become perhaps the thinnest. Even though the team doesn't employ me, doesn't need my help, and isn't returning my calls, I decided to search far and wide to help it find some capable running backs to help carry the load until some of the others return. I'm off to a great start, and have even written the perfect job description for them. If anyone knows how to get in touch with the 49ers Human Resources Department, please reach out to them and let them know I've done all the legwork for them...and that I'm sorry for the incident surrounding the Jim Tomsula hiring.
