San Francisco 49ers running back Raheem Mostert reached 22.73 MPH on a touchdown run during Week 1 against the Arizona Cardinals. That was the fastest speed reached by a running back over the last three seasons. A week later, Mostert broke his own record. The running back reached 23.09 MPH on his 80-yard touchdown run on the first offensive play against the New York Jets, according to Next Gen Stats. 49ers' injury list is lengthy; team could be down nine starters vs. Giants

The 2020 season has not started as the San Francisco 49ers hoped. It was supposed to be a "Legendary Revenge Tour" with the defending NFC champions making amends for February's Super Bowl defeat, climbing back to the top, and walking away with a championship. Maybe that still happens. But the 49ers will need to get back some of the players from their growing injury list. The defensive line, which is vital to the defense's success, has already taken a significant hit with the losses of two former first-round picks in Nick Bosa and Solomon Thomas. Kyle Shanahan, 49ers express confidence in Nick Mullens to lead offense vs. Giants

Quarterback Nick Mullens could get his ninth NFL start on Sunday when the San Francisco 49ers visit the New York Giants at MetLife Stadium. Starter Jimmy Garoppolo will not practice today and is a longshot to play after suffering a high-ankle sprain this past weekend against the New York Jets. "I would be surprised if Jimmy gets back later in the week," head coach Kyle Shanahan told reporters. "I know he's still pulling to do it.
