Report: 49ers will sign decorated Florida State CB

On Friday, after the 49ers drafted Southern Miss' Tarvarius Moore in the third round, general manager John Lynch explained the appeal of the defensive back with a fairly modest college resume. "You have to be able to run to play (cornerback) in this league," Lynch said, "and he can flat out run." The need for speed at the position explains why Florida State's Tarvarus McFadden, a cornerback with a decorated college resume, was not among the 256 players drafted. McFadden will sign a free-agent contract with the 49ers, the NFL Network reported Saturday. McFadden wasn't drafted after a ran a 4.

Report: 49ers CEO Jed York set to become principal owner

According to Ben Fischer of the Sports Business Journal, San Francisco 49ers CEO Jed York is preparing to assume the role of principal owner of the team by acquiring the necessary equity from his mother, Denise DeBartolo York. "The transaction and title change is subject to NFL approval, expected during the league meetings underway today in Orlando," Fischer wrote.
