The San Francisco 49ers and former Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman are discussing a potential three-year deal, according to a report by Josina Anderson of ESPN, who apparently received the information from a very reliable source.

Sherman had dinner with head coach Kyle Shanahan on Friday night, and the veteran cornerback has been visiting the 49ers' facility in Santa Clara on Saturday, where he also took part in a physical, according to the Sacramento Bee. He is coming off of a ruptured Achilles tendon in one leg, which he suffered during a Thursday night game against the Arizona Cardinals in November, and a bone spur in the other leg.
"On Friday, Sherman told ESPN's Josina Anderson that he will be back running on the treadmill next week," writes ESPN.
Sherman was released by the Seahawks with a failed physical designation on Friday after seven seasons in Seattle. He has a visit with the Detroit Lions scheduled for next week, and Anderson reports that there is also interest from the Tennessee Titans, Oakland Raiders, Houston Texans, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Green Bay Packers.
The 49ers are Sherman's first visit since his release. "Just doing our due diligence," Shanahan told NBC Sports Bay Area. "Nothing to report, yet."
Before his injury, Sherman registered 35 combined tackles, seven passes defensed, and two interceptions in nine starts last season. He has recorded 367 combined tackles, 32 interceptions, 99 passes defensed, a sack, and five forced fumbles over his career.
During Sherman's time with Seattle, the Seahawks made the playoffs five times, appeared in two Super Bowls, and won Super Bowl XLVIII.
On Saturday, 49ers wide receiver Kendrick Bourne attempted to recruit Sherman, saying he feels the 49ers defense is a good fit for the All-Pro cornerback. He's not incorrect. 49ers defensive coordinator Robert Saleh runs a defense similar to Seattle's. Saleh was an assistant with the Seahawks from 2011 until 2013.
