Trent Baalke is back in the NFL, with the NFL. The former 49ers general manager has taken an advisory role in the league office as a football operations consultant, ESPN reported. Baalke will handle game-related matters, player development and evaluation and will officiate video review. Baalke was fired before the finale of last year's 2-14 season. He was named the NFL's Executive of the Year in 2011, his first season after he was officially hired as GM, but the 49ers went 7-25 in his final two seasons. Twitter: @Eric_Branch
