Yes, the 49ers head coach is also expected to serve as their play-caller and offensive coordinator, the NFL Network reported. Curtis Modkins, a running backs coach for the majority of his career, had the title of offensive coordinator in 2016. McDaniel has served as a Falcons offensive assistant with Shanahan serving as offensive coordinator the past two seasons. Turner has served as an NFL running backs coach the past 22 seasons with Denver (1995-2009), Washington (2010-14) and Atlanta (2015-16). Rathman has been the 49ers running backs coach since 2009, serving under four different head coaches.
