They keep avoiding the real causes for the injuries. It's all the PEDs that these guys use to get oversized. The human body isn't built to get that big and strong without causing problems. Players banging into each other when they're that big is going to cause problems. The other part of PEDs is what they do to soft tissue. I remember back when MLB players were using steroids that the issue of long term use and the way it affected soft tissue and ligaments was brought up. We see a lot of NFL players go down with non contact injuries now. At least it seems like there are more than ever.

Look up PEDs and you can read that while they promote muscle growth they don't do the same for ligaments and tendons. This creates an imbalance. You end up with a very large strong part putting stress on a weaker part. If you've ever gained a lot of weight you know that you can feel it in your joints. Especially in your knees, back and hips. The most common injuries in the NFL are in the knees, calf, ankles and achilles. Being overworked while supprting all that extra muscle is just more than some bodies can handle.

You can't get rid of injuries by changing rules on the field. They need to change the rules off the field and crack down on PED use. It's been the least kept secret in th league for years. Not just illegal ones either. Many OTC supplements contain harmful ingredients because they aren't regulated by the FDA. Some actually contain small amounts of illegal ingredients. It's time to go back to old fashion weight training and plain old good nutrition. Get back to 280 lb linemen instead of these 330 lb behemoths. The game was just as good with smaller players and maybe we would see fewer serious injuries and long term health issues.

That's not entirely true. Certain PED's do stress soft tissues/joints by allowing players to exert more force than they normally would, but certain PED's like nandrolone (Deca), winstrol, HgH and certain peptides (BPC-157, TB-500), help lubricate joints, strengthen tendons and heal injuries at a much more rapid pace.

The whole demonization of PED's is stupid and a big publicity stunt, and there is a difference between using and abusing. If they just let all athletes use them, there would be no "advantage", and in the case of HgH/peptides, there is absolutely NO reason why athletes playing a violent sport shouldn't be allowed to use substances that allow them to maintain and regain their health.

PED's are only demonized because the media decided to run a campain demonizing them in the 1980's, before then a lot of athletes and bodybuilders used them openly, you could buy pharmaceutical grade PED's easily and nobody cried about it.

He's not young and gets a lot of VET days where he doesn't practice. If we are in a wire to wire football game I fully expect it to be a problem. Dude has earned his rest but I fear he needs more conditioning.
It's the first game of the season. Everyone hasn't played a full quarter of football. Add a long ass flight and there you go.

If PEDs were the cause, wouldn't every team be suffering from an increased rate of injury. That hasn't really happened. The numbers for AGL (games lost by contributors basically) doesn't show an increase in the number of injuries league wide over the last 12 years, only that the 49ers are near the top in number of games lost almost every season (11/12).

Kyle and John have promoted a culture of Superbowl or bust. So players will push their bodies to the limit, and I can see some of the more aggressive players taking more PED's to boost their performance to keep their starting job or to win a starting job. Other teams (in my opinion) don't have that high standard/high competitive mindset that the 49ers have had since Kyle's reign.

Case in point, Tonges got injured blocking Myles Garrett. He wasn't known as a blocker and that was his weakness in his game. I can see (and I'm not accusing him at all - just speculating) of him taking some PED's to improve his run blocking (as an example - again, I don't know this for a fact). Add in the fact that Kyle's outside Zone pre-snap motion offense needs a ton of repetitions to get the timing and synchronization down. I'm betting Kyle has more practice reps in a given day than most teams do - simply because the timing of the plays and the motions have to be so precise. More practice reps may correlate to more injuries.

The substation being there doesn't help, either. Not that it has an effect on injuries, but the fact that it might effect the belief of a payer about being more injured vs not being injured. What you worry about tends to happen, i.e. injuries. There's a huge mental component in sports in general.

Your opinion is noted but there is a lot of evidence that long term use is a problem. There's no denying that the increased bulk puts extra stress on joints. PEDs can heal injuries quicker mainly because they allow athletes to get back into training quicker.

Studies have shown that tendons and ligaments are often affected negatively because they don't respond at the same rate as muscle does and they often end up with less elasticity and become more brittle. Strong parts working against weak parts can cause failure. Athletes that use these (most do) are often doing it on their own with no medcal regulation. That can lead to abuse since they don't know how much is too much. The NFL tests these guys but from what I've read players say the testing is a joke and easy to beat. Maybe leglizing some PEDs woud be okay as long as they were monitored by a licensed physician that knew how to use them properly. Regular testing instead of random testing would also be needed.

Right. There is a reason why the NFL players poll has always rated the Niners training staff at the bottom of the league every single year of this regimes tenure. Time for changes.

They did somw changes since that survey/poll went out:
(1) Financial Investment: The team invested $9 million to expand and completely upgrade their rehabilitation facilities, specifically focusing on building better hydrotherapy and recovery zones.

(2) Personnel Changes: While keeping head trainer Dustin Perry, the team expanded the medical department by hiring three new full-time physical therapists to alleviate the lack of individual player care.

So far it doesn't seem to have done much, unfortunately.

Imo Dustin Perry needs to be removed at this point. Clean house in that department already

This. A bad leader kills any organization. Maybe those other changes make things better, let's assume they do. It's all small potatoes if the overall system the head trainer runs isn't working.

If he's willing to pay as much for his training staff as he is his hookers we're in trouble!

He needs to hire an army of them to make these guys feel better lol

All with happy endings lol
Robinson wide open catch; falls; leaves on cart. Rinse and repeat.

I can't take this s**t anymore. GET THIS TEAM THE F**K OUT OF SANTA CLARA. This it outrageous.
The training staff, combined with the substation, is teh succors
Insane how bad our luck is, pearsall, stribling and now drob, you can't make this up, the odds of this happening in crazy but of course happens to us
Only 4 guys injured through 3 quarters

Demarcus Robinson was making plays through 2 weeks and he gets carted off.

This isn't normal.
Football is becoming less and less exciting due to this
