Reports are that Luka is Zion'ing himself into terrible shape. He's listed at 230 but is reportedly pushing 270.

Didn't look 270 in the press conference. Got rid of the beard too.

But, obviously there is a reason why MAVS traded him. You don't do that unless there is a red flag (at least in their eyes). If it's a conditioning issue - they're fukin' idiots for trading him. There has to be something else and even then it doesn't really matter.

As to why only Lakers were involved in this trade - Mavs targeted AD. I know most of the ppl feel AD is always hurt and is inconsistent - but he's consistently a top 10 player and has been healthy last couple years. Yes, trade is still in Lakers favor - but Mavs obviously didn't want 4 FRPs and 4 swaps - they wanted a top a player in top 7-10 range.

Doubt they could get Giannis, Jokic, Tatum, SGA, and Wemby - I think you could make a case AD is in the next tier below them.

i think the dudes on All The Smoke hinted that Luka has an alcohol issue and that could be part of the reasoning for the trade.

but that still doesnt explain why he was offered to only one team.

If Luka is an alcoholic, and the team tried to control it and boiled over ......fine. Even though alcoholic Luka is a top 3-5 player.

i still think its something more sinister to trade for only Anthony "street clothes" Davis and to do it in the shadows .

Your rankings at bottom are hard to argue with , so let's say every GM agrees.

still doesn't make sense to only negotiate with one team especially for a much older player who is also worth much less from a marketing standpoint (and then the injury issue ) .

in NFL terms , it would be like trading Joe Burrow (young , franchise QB ) for CMC (injury prone top 3 RB ) or Stafford (top 10 QB when all engines are running ) IMO .

I'm more inclined to believe that tweet you posted yesterday. This a move to set up the team going to LV.

Owners love this move because A). They look like they have control. Player f**ks around and then finds out. B). A lot more revenue for the NBA now.

If I was that GM, I would've just quit. There's no I allow myself to get forced into making that trade unless the team just guaranteed me a 10 year deal. If he gets fired, this dude will never sniff another NBA GM job.

I agree - I wouldn't have just called up one team - but Luka had just 1 year left after this season and if the word got out that he was going to get traded - then he would have dictated where he'd go. Not Dame Lillard situation where he had 4 years left on contract.

I personally wouldn't trade him. Dude averages 28 7 7 - who gives a eff if he's 20 lbs too heavy and likes a beer or two a little too much.

And If I really really wanted to trade him - I'd sign him to supermax this summer and then trade him. I'd have the leverage and he'd have little to no say.

I'm not into conspiracy theories though.

Hmm, kind of fitting his # is 77. When he balloons to 300+, maybe we'll sign him to our oline. He could be the best zone run-blocking guard in the league with his vision and at 6'6, 350, lulz.

Yeah, for some reason the Jazz traded us three firsts for the one first we had that was eligible to trade.
