I'm wondering if baseball is going to consider lowering the mound a little like they did after 1968. The way pitchers are used now allows them to throw more hard pitches since they aren't expected to go the distance. The hard breaking downward pitches thrown from a tall pitcher on an elevated mound is making it harder than ever to get hits. Only 15 players in all of MLB hitting over .300 and we just started June. It used to be common to see at least 15 in each league hitting over .300 at this point. It makes for a lot of boring games watching player after player strike out or hit weak ground balls.
Another rule I would like to see reinstsated is the hit by pitch rule. It used to be that players needed to make a reasonable effort to get out of the way. Now they barely move unless it's up around the head. I guess they figure it's an easy way to get on base since they all wear body armor. I see so many guys getting on base when their jersey is barely touched. Getting hit used to be kind of uncommon but now I see it every game. Sometimes 2 or 3 times a game.
