In hindsight, there was something that happened that we all ignored that was a telltale sign this was happening.

Cashman signed an extension during all this. That doesn't happen if he misses judge. Obvious now.

ehhh hope that doesn't happen but its still better than last year. But still nowhere near good enough.

KNBR said tax difference between CA and NY was $25 mil over the course of the contract. I'm not saying this played a factor in Judges decision but I wonder how many FAs in any sport wouldn't play for a Ca team because of 13.3% income tax.

this might just be me, but I dont see the giants landing a hitter like Judge or Harper until a giants player shows they can have that kind of season in SF. 27 HRs in 2013 by Pence is the last time someone came close to 30. 2004 Barry is the last one to hit 30 and he's Barry Bonds.

Players want money and success. If you get the same money in a place where you will likely have more individual success, its a no-brainer. They can land the Hanigers of the league, but I just don't see elite hitters signing there until someone shows those numbers can happen.

If you can't land Judge who grew up down the road in the valley and was a giants fan with competitive money...

I'd like to see the breakdown of this. If he signed in Texas that would be one thing, but NY's taxes are pretty similar to CA's

They dont have accurate reporting as their top priority

It's embarrassing at this point. Were just the team guys use to drive up the price on the place they actually want to be.

I'm happy the giants were in it aggressively and competitive. If I were Judge, I would have stayed also. Its more money and better long term stats. And a better team. If I could make 40 a year plus endorsements in a hitters park like that, where I probably end up in the HOF if my career stays on track, sign me up.

He stayed for the legacy. Hopefully he enjoys all the boo's heading his way as he starts deteriorating in 3-4 years. Going to be a rough final 5 seasons.

There was little doubt in my mind that he would resign with NY. Legacy, money, and chance to win every year is there for him.

Garce likes to sling wild s**t out there on the web. Usually overly optimistic stuff. And he's wrong 99% of the time. I would be fine with that and think its funny if he didn't try to pretend he's a baseball genius when he gets 1 thing correct. He then pretends he was just kidding on the 99 wrong ones. Its almost a great strategy if it wasn't obvious.
