It sure is... I'm fairly sure 99.99999 percent of UW fans would trade their class with SC's right now.
Speaking of fans... you would think much of the USC vitriol would come from Bruin fans. However, it appears Alabama and "SEC" fans have been the most "hater" regarding SC's and Florida State's recruiting. Go figure.

Not 1 5 star recruit played for either starting lineup in the super bowl. Only 8 were 4 stars between both teams. Wilson was a 2 star.

Keep in mind, there are very FEW 5 star recruits each year. Each of these recruits must not get injured, play in a solid system, and overcome the challenges their talent can no longer address alone.
That's a small pool of kids, overcoming a bit, to end up at the highest level of competition.
Now, lets bring the argument to a more common level. As I mentioned before (in a dig), Washington's coaches and fans would trade their class with SC's in hot minute. Same could be said for any school that ranked below five.
Beings successful in the NFL requires a bit more than a high school ranking and a LOT more than talent alone. It requires a S-ton of luck, work ethic, a whole lot of HGH
, and not getting hurt.

One thing I have noticed as a tOSU fan is our 3 star players often end up better than the 5 star ones. I think it's because (Oregon and Boise St probably do it the best of any school) we recruit 3 star players for our schemes, whilst the 5 star players are more like trophies to show off to the recruiting world.
FSU (especially in the late Bowden years) would get ripped on by analysts because they would big in 5 star talent every year and be aggressively mediocre. Then, those 5 star players would go to the NFL, get good coaching, and become studs.

you also have to account for the fact that these rankings are a product of three variables; the athlete, the comparative athletes, and the competition of division.
It's no secret that kids peak at different times. Many of these kids, unfortunately, peak in high school, or are a product of scout service hype. Evaluaters are not immune to confirmation bias. Colleges like tOSU, Oregon, Boise, Fresno State do a great job of performing evaluations on kids that are not being looked at... and are being looked at.
In the end, recruit rankings are fun to look at, but there's still a lot that can happen. Just look at the NFL draft for an example.

I also feel like a lot of the very top recruits (top 100) are mental head cases. They've been showered with too much praise and its gone to their head.
Look at DGB, guy should have have been a 1500-1700 yard receiver, a Biletnekoff (spelling?) finalist. But he can't stay disciplined off the field.
Also IMO a lot of top level college guys frankly don't take college seriously. They know they are going to be in the NFL. This was the case of Vontaze Burfict, he couldn't give two s**ts about college, he was just having a bit of fun before going to college. Of course he took it to an extreme and got himself undrafted, but he is still an NFL player.
A 3-star guy recruited to a big time program is going to be scrutinized much more on his character. No one gives a s**t about the character of a top recruit, lol.

What you stated is one of of the major reasons I'm worried about both Jackson, and that Imen kid. Both of them have that "we are so awesome" attitude that usually ends badly.
This is the other reason I'm happy Snoops kid chose UCLA. I was never too hot on seeing him in SC gear or on the sidelines. Having his kid scum it up somewhere else is a blessing.

Who the f**k would go to BYU? They had the easiest schedule in CFB history and still barely made a bowl game(in which they lost and started a fight).

Dude, if I was a great athlete, and BYU offered, I'd go. I would choose them over many schools. I'm not LDS, but I do like the campus and the fact that you can play your sport with little distraction and with kids that are serious. And I felt that way in High School.
