It begins!!!! First game is Abilene Christian vs. Georgia State on Wednesday at 7PM EST. But WTF cares about that game. Top 3 games of the week and my picks 1. No. 21 Texas A&M at No. 9 South Carolina, Thursday 6PM EST, SEC Network -South Carolina favored by 10.5 -South Carolina notes: Likely an over rated team to start off the year, they are lead by an elite RB in Mike Davis and WR Shaq Roland is a potential start in the making. Defensively they lost some key players up front but are lead by two young studs at LB in Holloman and Moore. -Texas A&M: The post-Manziel era begins. Sophmore QB Kenny Hill is taking over and he was a big time highschool football star, a mobile QB to boot. A&M has a very young offense with only 3 seniors starting, and only 3 seniors on D starting. -Pick: South Carolina to cover. In case you missed it, Texas A&M was a bad football team that won games on Manziel-Evans magic. Texas A&M has a lot of young talent, but on the road against South Carolina is going to be a tough lesson 2. No, 14 Wisconsin vs. No. 13 LSU, Saturday, 9PM EST, ESPN -LSU favored by 5 -LSU Notes: LSU has a powerful offensive line and is loaded at RB. The passing game will be a work in progress with a freshman QB and replacing the top 2 WRs. Defensively LSU is very young and reloading, yet again, but should still boast a top 30 Defense at least. -Wisconsin Notes: Wisconsin had the #6 D in the country last year but lost 5 of its top 7 tacklers, including defensive leader Chris Borland. And despite the impressive ranking, Wisconsin gave up 30 pts to major conference OOC opponents. Offensively it will be the Melvin Gordon show behind a veteran line, Gordon is a potential Heisman candidate. -Pick: LSU to cover. This is a bad matchup for a one-dimensional Wisconsin offense, and their D won't hold up against LSU's attack. 3. No. 16 Clemson at No. 14 Georgia, Saturday, 5:30PM EST, ESPN -Georgia favored by 7.5 -Clemson Notes: Clemson had the #24 defense last year, and it will be even better this year with a lethal front 7, with 4 defensive lineman racking up double digit TFL last year that returned. Clemson is led by DE stud Vic Beasley. Offensively, Clemson is rebuilding as its stars over the years have moved on to the NFL. -Georgia Notes: Georgai has arguably the best pair of RBs in the nation, but gone is leader Andrew Murray. Last year Georgia was an injury plagued team that was put together with Murray's gum and toothpicks. Pick: Clemson to cover. Clemson's front 7 is going to be put to the test as Gurley embarrassed them last year. However without Murray, expect Clemson to commit fully to the run and stack the box

Wow, I am 0-6 in big game picks!!!!

So whatever I say, bet the opposite!!!!

1. No. 6 Georgia at No. 24 South Carolina, 12:30PM PST, CBS
Georgia Notes: Impressive debut against Clemson put Gurley as the front runner for the Heisman. Also impressive was Georgia's defense completely shut down Clemson's offense in the 2nd half. The challenge for Georgia will be to generate a passing offense to keep defenses off balance

South Carolina Notes: After getting embarrassed by Texas A&M, South Carolian finds themselves in a must-win game to stay alive in the playoff race. RB Mike Davis and WR Shaq Roland bouncing back certainly helped the offense, but the defense looks porous.

Line: -2.5 Georgia

Pick:I'm going with Georgia to cover

2. Tennessee at No. 4 Oklahoma, 5:00PM PST, ESPN

Tenn Notes: Butch Jones is in his 2nd year project of returning Tenn. to relevance. So far they've been tested by somewhat decent non-major squads in Utah State and Arkansas State and passed with solid wins. They aren't as bad as last years 5-7 squad, but they still have a ways to go.

Oklahoma Notes: The Okies are riding high in rankings, largely thanks to last years bowl win over 'Bama. However QB Trevor Knight hasn't looked impressive so far, and he was key in the upset over 'Bama. Oklahoma is a well balanced and deep team.

Line: -20.5 Oklahoma

Pick: Tennessee to cover. I just can't spot 20.5 points over an SEC team, and I suspect Oklahoma is over hyped.

3. No. 21 Louisville at Virginia, 9:30 PM PST, ESPN3

Louisville Notes: The post-Bridgewater/Strong era has started off well. Despite missing WR Parker, Louisville started off with an impressive win over Miami, led by run-oriented offense. Their defense was very impressive, holding a star RB on Miami under 100 yards and forcing 3 turnovers.

Virginia Notes: The Cavaliers were impressive against UCLA, nearly pulling off an upset win over a team picked by many to win the national championship before the season started. If Virginia can get some quality QB play, they could be a dangerous squad.

Line: Louisville -6.5

Pick: Louisville to cover. The line started at 10 and dropped to 6.5 based on Virginia nearly beating UCLA. However that game was the dreaded west coast team playing on the East Coast in a morning game, and the UCLA squad has shown its offensive line is a glaring weak spot.

I could deal with the helmet, if the rest wasn't so over-done by Under Armour. The shade of blue and the pattern/combo is fubar.

Haha nice, game was tight in the first half but Notre Dame took over in the second half. Golson had some clutch plays man!
