You mean E-SEC-PN's propaganda?

OSU probably won't make the playoffs after today (awful performance on a national stage) but good God today was just proof how much of a hoax SEC dominance is this season. I hope the SEC playoff rep has to play Oregon or TCU in the semis. Or maybe Utah will win out and we can watch Utah blow out a Nick Saban Alabama team again.

What exact happened today that made it so overwhelmingly obvious SEC dominance is a hoax?

E-SEC-PN?

Check out the big brain on Brad! You a smart mothaf**ka. Did you make that up all on your own?

Btw OSU is a joke team in a joke conference. That's the reason they won't be in the playoffs. They're the cream of the crap. Mich St. is the only team worth an ounce of respect.

lol, Joel Klatt said it all when he was condescendingly going over the Kentucky/Miss St highlights. "I'm sure some people out there will talk about how this is such a great road win". Anyone who actually watched that game, or the LSU/Ole Miss game, can say for sure those teams (records aside) are not top 10 teams. Every top 10 team outside of the SEC ones would blow out Miss St state IMO, and beat Ole Miss by two scores.

My eyes show me its a down year in that conference, but ESPN is balls deep in SEC since its their first year running the network. Pac-12 and Big 12 are clearly the dominant conferences this year. Big Ten does suck, but I'm the first one to say that. Ohio State certainly does not suck, however, though they sucked on Saturday (but still won).

Huge game this Saturday, anything can happen but asu should be a strong favorite at home

Asu D has improved when we changed our starters and I think our passing game will be on fire
Here is the SEC bias as I've best seen it explained:

"The reason why all of those computers and human polls are coming up SEC is because the SEC had 8 teams in the top 25 in the preseason. If you have a lot of highly ranked teams in the preseason, then a team like Miss St can quickly move up without even being ranked. And you don't get penalized for beating a team that was clearly over-ranked, like South Carolina, who started the season in the top 10.

If we swapped the Big 12 for the SEC's spots in the preseason rankings, inserting KSU, Baylor, WVU, TCU, and Oklahoma, they would most likely have most of the top spots too. Only having three in the preseason top 25 doesn't give them enough people to play to get the quality wins that move the computer and human polls so much. These teams are being sorted based on preseason expectations that really don't have a bearing on how good a team is. SEC wins the preseason game which means they get more shots at the top. More shots at the top gets more teams in a position to play (and win) big games, and create a reputation, that leads to high rankings in the next preseason's polls. The SEC is good because everyone thinks the SEC is good. They also win the big games, but they get more chances to win the big games. And the media only focuses on those big games because they use the preseason rankings to sell the games (see South Carolina vs. Texas A&M).

It is selection bias in that the preseason polls skew everyone's thinking the rest of the year. The best system would be to have no polls at all, ever. The committee just chooses the four best teams at the end of the year and we deal with the consequences. I know they do polls to draw more interest, but I think no polls would get even more people debating."

A good article on the affair between the SEC and ESPN. Don't feel like quoting from it, but it's pretty good.

This is something that draws me away from college football. Their system feels like its corrupted. Like American politics. SEC strength of schedule is always so high because they get so many preseason ranked teams.

uhhhhhhhhh.... great article!

Lot's of quotes that i took from it but hear is a chunk of my favorite.

" . Auburn is ranked two spots ahead of Notre Dame in this week's AP poll, despite losing to (then) third-ranked Mississippi State by 15 points. Meanwhile, the Irish barely lost to No. 2 Florida State by four points on a game-deciding penalty.

Three SEC teams have yet to record a conference win, going a combined 0-13 so far in league play. Five of the conference's teams are .500 or worse. Tennessee hasn't turned in a winning season since Obama's first year in office. Florida has won just seven of its last 19 games. LSU, South Carolina and Texas A&M haven't lived up to preseason expectations, and Arkansas is Vanderbilt now.

The collapse has forced the most powerful media entity in college football to shift its influence to the Mississippi and Alabama schools. Where No. 3 Ole Miss' loss on Saturday might ordinarily represent a setback to such a cause, ESPN has created such an incestuous bubble of hype that there can be no arguing when these teams lose. "Alabama lost, but it was to Ole Miss...Ole Miss lost, but it was to LSU...LSU lost, but it was to Auburn… Auburn lost, but it was to Mississippi State."

I think the SEC is the best conference in college football, but the amount they are hyped up to be better is insane.

Right now they would send 3 teams to playoffs? That basically guarantees the SEC 2 teams in playoffs (as predicted by Mandel by the way before the season, based on SEC's hype).

Hopefully it balances it out by the end of the season.

Honeslty though, Ole Miss has no business in the top 10. They got a good win against Alabama, and have lost to a mediocre LSU team. That's it.

Same with Alabama, they've done nothing.

The over-hype of Texas A&M has effectively put BOTH Ole Miss and Alabama in prime position to make playoffs How can a bad team losing vault 2 teams up so much ????

I can get the Miss St and Auburn ranking being in top 4, I might not agree with it but its logical.

Whats dumb is the fact that Texas A&M being highly regarded early in the season has effectively guaranteed the SEC two playoff teams because it has inflated the SEC West rankings so much.

3 SEC West teams in top 4. Fuggin ridiculous. They ain't even trying to hide it. College Football needs a lot of work. Its such a great product on the field but everything else around it is fuuuuu'd up.

No love for a 1 loss Notre Dame team, that could of won in Florida State? Man, and Damn. UND has a legit shot, SEC is overrated big time.

I agree with SunDevil, Ole Miss has no business, after being beat by LSU. Sickening, but what the heck do I know, I'm a UND homer.

Old Miss lost by a FG after completely implosion. Is LSU really that bad of a loss? I swear some of you must think it's easy reloading and competing year after year in the conference. 1 loss to a 2 loss team = awful. 2 losses are easy to pick up for a quality team in this conference. One loss is easy to pickup for a top 5 team. I mean I hate to shout it from the rooftops but its hard conferencence to play in. Losses are going to happen. Look at TAMU and Missouri. Not that easy year after year is it? That's why there's some benefit of the doubt EARLY.

Ole Miss v Auburn. Olemiss vs Miss st. Auburn vs Bama. Miss st vs Bama.

Then the SEC Champ.

More losses to come people. Stop freaking out. We're not going have two SEC teams unless other contenders don't do their job. There won't be two one loss sec teams at the end of year so if all the one losses handle business they don't have to worry about arguing merits against the SECCG loser.
